Conversion of cinnamaldehyde to styrene by a yeast mutant.

چکیده
During our investigation on the metabolism of biochemical mutants of yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), we found that one mutant (strain 3212) produced an abnormal, unpleasant odor during fermentation in the presence of cinnamaldehyde. The compound associated with the obnoxious odor was isolated and identified as styrene. Since this unusual formation of a hydrocarbon during yeast fermentation has not been described previously in the literature, our observations are reported in this paper.

Respiratory mutant and liquid holding recovery inhibition in yeast cells
Background: Cell ability to recover from radiation damage is of great relevance in cancer treatment. It is often believed that the inhibition of cell ability to the liquid holding recovery (LHR) may be an indicator of the overall suppression of cell ability to recover from potentially lethal radiation damage. However, the literature contains no experimental evidence whether the LHR inhibition m...
متن کاملHeterogeneous One-Pot Carbonylation and Mizoroki-Heck Reaction in a Parallel Manner Following the Cleavage of Cinnamaldehyde Derivatives.
Carbon monoxide (CO) and styrene derivatives that can be both generated by a palladium on carbon (Pd/C)-catalyzed carbon-carbon (C-C) bond cleavage reaction of cinnamaldehyde derivatives were effectively utilized in further palladium-catalyzed C-C bond forming reactions in a direct and practical way. CO derived from simple and affordable CO carriers such as cinnamaldehyde or terephthalaldehyde ...
متن کاملSimulation of Styrene Polymerization in Arbitrary Cross-Sectional Duct Reactors by Boundary-Fitted Coordinate Transformation Method
The non-orthogonal boundary-fitted coordinate transformation method is applied to the solution of steady three-dimensional conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and speciescontinuity to obtain the laminar velocity, temperature and concentration fields for simulation of polymerization of styrene in arbitrary cross-sectional duct reactors. Variable physical properties (except for speci...

(St-co-BA) polymer through montmorillonite (MMT) nanocomposite emulsion is prepared by in situ intercalative emulsion polymerization of styrene (St), butyl acrylate (BA) in the presence of organic modified montmorillonite (OMMT) with different OMMT contents (0, 0.5, 1.0, 1.5, and 2.0 wt%). The synthetic compounds are characterized by FTIR, XRD. The nanocomposite emulsions are characterize...
متن کاملSimulation, Optimization & Control of Styrene Bulk Polymerization in a Tubular Reactor
In this paper, optimization and control of a tubular reactor for thermal bulk post-polymerization of styrene have been investigated. By using the reactor mathematical model, static and dynamic simulations are carried out. Based on an objective function including polymer conversion and polydispersity, reactor optimal temperature profile has been obtained. In the absence of model mismatch, de...
